Early Life and Career Beginnings
Adele Laurie Blue Adkins was born on May 5, 1988 in North London, England to an English mother and Welsh father. From a young age, Adele developed a passion for music and began singing. She graduated from the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology in 2006 and shortly after created a MySpace page to post samples of her voice.
Her demos eventually made their way to XL Recordings and Adele released her critically-acclaimed debut album “19” in 2008, which earned her the Grammy for Best New Artist. With hits like “Chasing Pavements” and “Hometown Glory”, she gained attention for her soulful voice and detailed songwriting.
Rise to Fame with 21
Adele cemented her status as a global superstar with the blockbuster success of her sophomore record “21” released in early 2011. Expanding on her retro-soul sound, iconic singles like “Rolling In The Deep,” “Someone Like You,” and “Rumour Has It” dominated charts worldwide.
The intensely personal album resonated strongly with listeners and also inspired the nickname “The New Queen of Soul.” It won a record-tying six Grammys including Album of the Year and helped fuel Adele’s meteoric rise to prominence around the globe.
Continued Success with 25
Following vocal cord surgery and a few years out of the public eye, Adele made her highly anticipated comeback in late 2015 with the single “Hello” a sweeping piano ballad that broke records with over 1 billion YouTube views.
Her third studio album “25” debuted at #1 in more than 30 countries upon its November release. Often described as her most mature work ever, 25 contained emotional stand outs like “When We Were Young” along with the cathartic “Water Under the Bridge.” True to form, it won Album of the Year at the 2017 Grammys.
Recent Work and Upcoming 2024 Tour
After taking more time off to focus on motherhood and personal growth, Adele reemerged with new single “Easy On Me” in 2021, previewing her fourth full-length album “30”. As raw and vulnerable as ever, it contained songs processing her recent divorce and developments in her life and resonated strongly worldwide.
Now preparing for a huge global concert tour in 2024 after years away from touring, fan excitement continues to reach fever pitch and her status as a beloved generational talent has only grown over time. With one of music’s most peerless voices and writing talents, Adele promises even more iconic songs and albums on the way.
